Alpine Swift

In 1955 the Alpine Swift has been breeding for the first time in Freiburg. During the mid 90s already 50 pairs have been breeding in the city of Freiburg. Since 1991 a small population established in Waldshut (4 to 6 pairs in 1996; Schmidt & Schmidt 1996). The easiest way to watch Alpine Swifts is to try it at the Münster (large church in the centre of Freiburg): You can use one of the Cafes around the Münster and watch the church steeple or You climb the very steeple. From the church steeple You will have close views of the birds.
