Great White Egret The Great White Egret is present all year round at all the larger waters of Bavaria. In this State a synchronised census took place for the first time in 2001: 102 Egrets have been counted during this occasion (although some important wetlands have not been included)! The maximum numbers in southern Germany are reached between September and November. Please look for birds in breeding plumage (dark bill, light lower legs, Schmuckfedern). It is only a matter of time until the first Great White Egrets will breed successfully in Germany. |
