Collared Flycatcher In Germany the Collared Flycatcher can only be seen in the southern part of the country. This Flycatcher is only during a short time of the year easy to observe. It arrives by the end of April/ beginning of May and is leaving the breeding grounds again already by the end of July/ beginning of August (Hölzinger 1997). If You are looking for the Collared Flycatcher try a sunny morning in May or June. The alluvial forests at the river mouth of the Isar near Deggendorf in Bavaria is a rewarding area. About 50 pairs are breeding mainly on the west side of the Isar. The most reliable spots are described on the page The area around the Danube and the Danube fen near Günzburg. Also the alluvial forests situated between Neuburg and Ingolstadt (Bavaria) are inhabited by less than 30 breeding pairs (Hölzinger 1997). |
